Dr. Eric Berg, pediatric otolaryngologist, and surgeon at Pediatric ENT of Atlanta received finalist status as a Health Care Hero by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The publication honored Dr. Berg as a Health Care Hero in the Physician / Physician Practice Group in their May 28, 2021 – June 3, 2021 issue.
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Dr. Berg was nominated for his service as a pediatric otolaryngologist who went above and beyond to prevent a young patient from recurring emergency surgeries.
When interviewed by the publication, Dr. Berg stated, “I always try to do what I can to help connect the dots outside of the practice and advocate for my patients, whether it’s through their school or whatever resources they might need. You see a lot of kids with hearing loss who need accommodations. In the classroom, supportive therapy like speech therapy. I do everything I can do to maximize progress and minimize time wasted getting where they want to be.”
Melanie Lasoff Levs, Associate Editor of the publication writes, “This has been an exceptional year for the healthcare industry. It sounds cliché, but saying “everyone in health care is a hero” is cliché for a reason, especially when an entire industry was pushed to the brink during the Covid-19 pandemic. That means that judging this year’s Health Care Heroes Awards was extra difficult for Atlanta Business Chronicle editorial staff.”
In addition to awarding Dr. Berg in the Physician Practice Group, Atlanta Business Chronicle presented a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. David Stephens of Emory Woodruff Health Sciences Center/Emory University School of Medicine.
The physicians and staff and Pediatric ENT of Atlanta are exceptionally proud of Dr. Berg’s recent award and service to the patient-families we serve.
